"Dear Susan,
It was about 3 weeks ago I discovered your watercolour portrait video. I had been searching for such a video for sometime, but I notice while there is an abundance of other subjects, this one appears to be rare, at least on video. One is more likely to come across this kind of instruction in oils and they are usually more impressionist, which I find almost useless, being a realist. So, needless to say, I immediately ordered it.
I received and viewed it in its entirety yesterday. Obviously you are unusually talented, but in addition to that, the easy and informal, yet very effective way that you educate the viewer as you go along was highly instructive and surprisingly enjoyable. Knowledge of one's subject and the ability to impart that knowledge effectively to others, are two vastly different skills. Not all artists double as good teachers. Luckily for us viewers, you do.
Anyway, just wanted to let you know that I found it most enjoyable. I assume you chose the particular subject(s) i.e. the hat with the net and rose etc, for the techniques they present. Your teaching style immediately puts the viewer at ease, it is so clear and natural, and yet there is a definite element of entertainment there somewhere. A most serendipitous experience. Would you consider doing another one?"
Regards and Best Wishes.

"Your DVD's arrived in time for Xmas and I must say they make it so much easier to use as a reference. I no longer have to keep rewinding or fast forwarding video's. The updated gallery and additional tech tips make it worthwhile even if one already has the book and video's."

"My loving husband gave to me as a gift, a book created
by you, filled with the most beautiful flowers. I'd not
seen watercolor paintings so vibrant before. It was
inspirational. I had been taking water color classes
from the local colleges. Once seeing your
techniques in the book, I wanted your DVD...and got
it.
My instructor has told me that I have now surpassed him
and the rest of the class. I showed him and the class
your book and let them know of your DVDs. I recently
taught the class as part of my class project. Everyone
thanked me, including the instructor. Thank you for
your grace and instruction in painting. I have fallen
in love with the water color medium: hydrodynamics,
paper types, and delight of pigments and light.
I look forward to your next books and DVDs. Several
students in the class have purchased your book and DVDs now.
An update: By the way, you would be proud of the great advances made by several students in my water color class since purchasing your book and DVDs. It's like sunlight found it's way to their paper (no more muddy paintings). All in the class who have purchased your water color instructional materials, have improved technique and understanding of the water color medium. They express less frustration and seem to have once again found wonderment in painting. Their new found confidence lends itself to freedom of expression. Think of it...you gave this thoughtful gift to others by sharing your knowledge of water color technique. Wouldn't it be nice if confidence could be so easily packaged for everyday life?
I am doing my best to afford myself a gift: a reserved space in your 2008 water color workshop in Maine (one of my favorite states). I must save up the pennies for that one. I sent an email to Gail asking for the price of the workshop and await a reply."
